Theresa C., of Naperville, says: “This is my favorite place to drink in the city. It's usually the cherry popper for my friends who are South Side drinking virgins. If you want a true pub experience, Keegan's the place to be … Always guaranteed to be the best Guinness pour in the city of Chicago.”

Michael T., of Chicago, says: “On the South Side of Chicago, Western Avenue bars are a part of one's life. Among the many offerings, this place is the best. Why? It's clean. It's classy. The beer garden is huge. The beer selection is great.

Is this an Irish bar per se? The name indicates that it is but I've never really run into a bunch of turkey birds here (yes, I can say that, I'm Irish). I have, however, run into a good looking crowd and friendly staff… To close, if I'm drinking on Western, it's probably at the Cork.”

Lanigan’s Irish Pub, 3119 W. 111th St., Chicago (Mt. Greenwood) | 5 Stars

Dan K., of Chicago, says: “It's a place where The Reader or Chicago Magazine will never recommend in one of their bar issues, which is a shame. It's not uber-hipster cool, but it has a pool table, a juke box, and excellent Irish beer and whiskey. It can use a few more ipa's, but it has something for everyone. Friendly atmosphere and a nice bartender on the Monday that I was there. Only three TV's in the joint so it's a laidback kind of dive.”

Blackthorn Pub, 3300 W. 111th St., Chicago (Mt. Greenwood) | 5 Stars

Mandie P., of Palos Park, says: Another one of my favorite bars- this one because of the darts. They have REAL darts! Not those stupid, plastic-tipped, have to pay a dollar every game electric kinds, but three sets of authentic darts. Plus, mechanical scoreboards (and chalkboards if you prefer).

Good drink specials every day, live music, hilarious bartenders, and in general, a very neighborhood feel to it. Comfortable, chill and cozy.”

An Seanachi Irish Pub, 2825 W. 127 St., Blue Island | 5 Star

Daniel S., of Morgan Park, says: “I've been coming here for over 2 years now, it's a classic neighborhood bar, lotsa regulars, but I like the vibe, very Irish themed (as I am) they regularly have events and fundraisers, and now host bingo on Sundays, with prizes up to $10,000! They also just started selling way more craft beer which I love, featuring some titles I had never seen at bars before.”
