The low-income complex recently received $3 million in federal safety and accessibility upgrades, and local officials say the changes and the new name reflect a lasting commitment to affordable housing in Bloomington-Normal.

Bloomington police respond to false active shooter report at local school (centralillinoisproud.com) — Bloomington police say a frightening report of an active shooter at Bloomington Junior High School Friday turned out to be a swatting hoax, and no students were in the building. Multiple local agencies quickly searched the school, found no threat, and are now investigating who made the false call while asking anyone with information to contact detectives.

Community unites in solidarity at McLean County Islamic Center (centralillinoisproud.com) — Residents gathered Friday at the Islamic Center of McLean County in Bloomington to support local Muslims after a deadly shooting at a San Diego Islamic center. Members of Not in Our Town Bloomington-Normal joined Jumuah prayers, emphasizing community, inclusiveness, and standing together in times of grief, with visitors receiving small thank-you gifts as they left.
   

4. America's Broken Pipeline of Mental Healthcare for Trans Youth (assignedmedia.org) — A Bloomington trans middle-schooler’s brutal hallway assault and difficult search for affirming mental healthcare highlight how local schools and providers are struggling to protect vulnerable youth.
