18-Year-Old Reached For Handgun During Traffic Stop: Cops
The man attempted to remove a handgun from his waistband, and officers were able to disarm him, police said.

BOLINGBROOK, IL — An 18-year-old Bolingbrook man faces charges after police say he tried to pull a handgun from his waistband during a traffic stop on Thursday. Taurus Weeks was charged with two counts of aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, aggravated battery and resisting a police officer, Bolingbrook Police said.
At 4:55 p.m. Thursday, police said officers conducted a traffic stop at Route 53 and Briarcliff Road for a traffic violation. While speaking with the occupants of the vehicle, police said Weeks, who was in the backseat, was making "suspicious movements" and arguing with officers.
Weeks was ordered to get out of the car and did not comply, then reached toward his waistband, according to police. Weeks attempted to remove a handgun from his waistband, and officers took action to gain control of Weeks and the handgun. After struggling with Weeks, officers were able to disarm him, police said.

The weapon was secured, and Weeks was taken into custody. According to police, the recovered loaded handgun was illegally modified to fire as fully automatic.
An officer was injured during the struggle, but did not require immediate medical attention, police said.

Weeks was taken to the Will County Adult Detention Facility, and has a court date on Friday afternoon.
