Drew Peterson TV Specials Air This Weekend

The shows will be broadcast just ahead of the 10-year-anniversary of Stacy Peterson's disappearance.

BOLINGBROOK, IL — Disgraced Bolingbrook Police Sgt. Drew Peterson has been behind bars — where he'll stay for decades to come — but his case continues to generate attention. As the 10th anniversary of fourth wife Stacy Peterson's disappearance approaches, two cable networks will air specials on the former cop. Peterson was convicted of the murder of third wife Kathleen Savio and of attempting to arrange a hit on Will County State's Attorney James Glasgow from behind bars.

Oyxgen network will air "Snapped Notorious: Drew Peterson," on Aug. 25, dubbing the special a "two-hour event on the infamous Drew Peterson case." The show airs at 8 p.m. Central. The Oxygen website also offers plenty of Drew Peterson content in the form of blog posts, including "6 Cops Who Turned Into Cold-Blooded Murderers," "5 Of The Most Shocking Facts From The Drew Peterson Case" and "Drew Peterson: Then And Now."

"When 23-year-old mother of four Stacy Peterson disappears without a trace in Illinois, her husband, a police officer named Drew Peterson, claims she ran away with another man," the ID website says. "Authorities scour the state, but turn up little evidence of her whereabouts. As they dig into the Petersons' lives, they discover a shocking coincidence - just a few years earlier, Drew's previous wife, Kathleen Savio, died under mysterious circumstances. The death was initially ruled an accident... but investigators begin to suspect she was murdered."

Peterson has been the subject of numerous TV specials. Most recently, his son, Stephen, appeared on Lifetime's "Monster in My Family" to speak about the case. Lifetime also famously aired "Drew Peterson: Untouchable" starring Rob Lowe in 2012.

Peterson remains in federal custody in Terre Haute, Indiana, where he was moved in March for being a "threat to safety" at the Illinois Department of Corrections. Peterson was sentenced to 38 years for the 2004 murder of Savio and another 40 years for his attempt to order a hit on Glasgow.

Stacy Cales Peterson has been missing since Oct. 28, 2007. No one has ever been arrested in connection with her disappearance, and it remains unsolved.
