Bolingbrook Opposes Illinois American Water Proposed Rate Hike

The proposed rate hike is currently under review by the Illinois Commerce Commission.

BOLINGBROOK, IL — Bolingbrook Mayor Mary Alexander-Basta will hold a press conference on Wednesday opposing the Illinois American Water rate hike proposal.

Wednesday's press conference will address Illinois American Water’s proposed water and sewer rate increases and the impact it would have on Bolingbrook families, seniors, and local businesses, according to a news release.

The proposed rate hike is currently under review by the Illinois Commerce Commission.

“Families and businesses deserve a water provider that is accountable, responsive, and focused on delivering quality service — not one that continues to increase rates,” Alexander-Basta said in a news release. “I am asking residents to stand with us and let the ICC know that this proposal is not acceptable.”

Illinois American Water filed its general rate increase petition with the ICC in January.

Illinois American Water will hold a public forum on July 14 in Bolingbrook. Impacted customers do not have to attend the forum to submit a comment.

Those unable to attend may submit comments via the ICC website or by calling the ICC Consumer Services Division at 1-800-524-0795.

The public forum will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. on July 14 at Bolingbrook Community Center, 201 Canterbury Lane.
