BOLINGBROOK, IL — Plans for a new grocery store in Bolingbrook will move forward, after the Bolingbrook Village Board approved a special use permit for a planned development with variances, and a final development plan.
The current site, at 135 E. Boughton Road, is undeveloped.
Mayor Mary Alexander-Basta said the proposal is to build a 7,395-square-foot grocery store, called Jofen Market.
"Jofen Market is a Filipino grocery store specializing in southeast Asian and African produce, meat and products, [and] serving limited hot food," Alexander-Basta said.
According to Board documents, the currently undeveloped land has a parking lot and foundation from a former car wash.
The new grocery store would operate from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday. A small dining area is also proposed within the store for consuming prepared food from the hot bar, Board documents state.
