Armed Carjacking Attempt Leads To Bolingbrook Man's Arrest In Robbery: Cops
Police received a report of an attempted vehicular hijacking involving the aggravated discharge of a firearm at 10:14 p.m. Monday.

BOLINGBROOK, IL — A report of an attempted vehicular hijacking involving at least one gunshot led to the arrest of a 23-year-old man wanted on a warrant for armed robbery, according to a release from Bolingbrook Police.
Police received a report of an attempted vehicular hijacking involving the aggravated discharge of a firearm at 10:14 p.m. Monday in the 300 block of Woodcreek Drive, according to a release.
Police said one shot was fired in the parking lot of the apartment complex. The expended round was found at the scene. Officers canvassed the area and police said there were no reported injuries.

The investigation led Bolingbrook Detectives to a nearby apartment where it was believed the carjacker had fled, according to police.
Deshaun Cockream, 23, was taken into custody without incident, with the assistance of the United States Marshal Service Great Lakes Regional Fugitive Task Force, on warrant charges from a March 27 armed robbery, police said.

Further investigation also revealed evidence linking Cockream to additional open investigations, police said. Jail records show he was taken into custody on charges of armed robbery involving a gun, possession of a stolen vehicle and unlawful vehicular invasion.
He was taken to the Will County Adult Detention Facility. Cockream's bond for the March 27 armed robbery charges is $250,000, meaning he would have to post $25,000 to be released.
According to jail records, Cockream remained in custody and was due in court on Wednesday.
Monday's incident remains under investigation, police said. Patch has reached out to Bolingbrook police seeking more information on the incident.

In 2021, Cockream was arrested on charges of aggravated unlawful use of a weapon by felon and obstructing a peace officer after a drive-by shooting followed by a high speed chase that ended in a crash, according to Joliet police.
In 2022, while in custody at the Will County jail, Cockream was accused of tossing a cup full of urine at one guard and spitting in the face of another during an attempted search of his cell, the Herald-News reported.
According to Illinois Department of Corrections records, Cockream was paroled in February after serving time for a 2021 aggravated battery to an officer sentence. He previously served time for a 2017 sentence for robbery and residential burglary, according to IDOC.
