Assistant Principals Hired at BHS, Martinez

Valley View names new administrators.

Valley View Board of Education members on Monday announced two new administrators, including a new assistant principal at Bolingbrook High School.

Bolingbrook High School Director of Guidance Christine Ruddy has been named BHS’ assistant principal and director of View School District 365U’s Phoenix Experience alternative school.

She succeeds Dr. Karen Page, who has retired.

Ruddy has been at BHS since 2007, when she joined the staff as a guidance counselor, the district said.

Prior to coming to VVSD, she was an attendance caseworker for nearly five years at Education Service Network in Morris and was a Romeoville police officer for five years, serving as a D.A.R.E. and G.R.E.A.T officer at A. Vito Martinez Middle School during that time.

A member of the Heart Haven Outreach Board of Directors and president of the St. Paul the Apostle School Board, Ruddy holds a Bachelor’s Degree in psychology and a Master’s Degree in school counseling and guidance from Lewis University.

New AVM assistant principal

Meanwhile, Romeoville High School Dean of Students Russell “Bill” Normand Jr. has been named assistant principal at A. Vito Martinez Middle School in Romeoville.

He succeeds Lisa Harrington, who has left the district.

Normand has been with Romeoville High School since 2003, having served as a health, physical education and driver education instructor. He also coached wrestling, boys and girls golf, baseball and football at RHS, was the announcer for football and basketball games, and was coordinator of the Teen Safe Driving/SADD program and sophomore class sponsor. He became dean of students in 2012.

Prior to coming to VVSD, he taught physical education, health and driver education at Riverton Community High School in the Springfield area.

A graduate of Millikin University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in physical education, he also holds a Master of Arts Degree in educational administration from Governors State University.

Normand will start immediately, the district said.
