Bakery Employee Gets Arm Stuck in Conveyor Belt
The incident occurred at Turano Knead Dough Bakery in Bolingbrook.

BOLINGBROOK, IL — A bakery employee received minor injuries after his arm was caught between two conveyor belt roller pins.
According to Bolingbrook Public Information Officer Lt. Carter Larry, police and fire departments responded to a traumatic injury incident at around 6:45 a.m. April 9 at Turano Knead Dough Bakery, located at 555 Joliet Road in Bolingbrook.
Larry said the employee got his arm caught between two roller pins that were a part of a conveyor belt assembly.

“The employee’s arm was finally freed utilizing a plasma torch by cutting one end of the roller pins housing,” Larry said in an email.
Life Star was called to the scene to be on standby in case it was needed.

The employee was taken to a local area hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
According to U.S. Department of Labor Regional Director for Public Affairs Scott Allen, an investigation into the bakery has been opened.
"We will not have any details or (findings) until the completion of our investigation,"Allen said.
Since 1976, Turano Bakery has been inspected a total seven times at its Illinois and New York locations.
"The last inspection in Illinois was 2011 where we issued two citations for recordkeeping and angle of a stairway," Allen said. "The other inspections were conducted in 2008 and 2004."
