Bolingbrook AFJROTC Wins Conference Championship

Bolingbrook High School’s Air Force Junior ROTC Drill Team successfully defended its Southwest Suburban Conference championship Feb. 14 at Lincoln Way Central High School.

It’s the school’s third SWSC championship in four years.

The 39-cadet Drill Team, led by Commander Sidney Campbell, took first or second in 8 of the 12 competition events.

Winning teams and their commanders:

●Sidney Campbell – First Place in Solo Exhibition

●Becky Vian – First Place in Team Inspection

●Linnea Volkart – First Place in Varsity Unarmed Exhibition

●Carrie Larry – First Place in JV Unarmed Exhibition

●Sidney Campbell – Second Place in Varsity Armed IDR

●Sidney Campbell – Second Place in Varsity Armed Exhibition

●Jessyca Antley and George Hanson – Second Place in Duet Exhibition

●Melissa Mendoza – Second Place in JV Unarmed IDR

Seniors who have won three conference championships include Jessyca Antely, Cadet Wing Commander; and Sidney Campbell, Drill Team Commander.

The Drill Team will travel to Dayton, Ohio, for the Air Force Regional Drill Competition on March 14.
