Bolingbrook Among 100 Safest U.S. Cities: Report

The village joins nine other Illinois towns on the list.

BOLINGBROOK, IL — Bolingbrook is among the National Council for Home Safety and Security's "Top 100 Safest Cities In America," according to the 2017 list. The village was one of 10 Illinois towns to snag a spot on the list, which was compiled based largely on the FBI's 2016 Uniform Crime Report statistics, which include reports of violent crimes and property crimes and crime rate based on population.

Bolingbrook came in at No. 86 on the list, with a population of 74,356, a total of 136 reported violent crimes and 991 property crimes. Wheaton is the highest-ranked city in Illinois at No. 6 with a population of 53,800 and 12 violent crime reports plus 388 property crimes in 2016. Other Illinois cities on the list include Arlington Heights (No. 15), Naperville (No. 41) and Tinley Park (No. 46).

In March, the Bolingbrook Police Department said the village's crime rate was at a 20-year-low in 2016.
