Bolingbrook Chamber event raises over $1100 for area charities
Annual Charity Challenge combines competition, cocktails and area nonprofits
The Bolingbrook Area Chamber of Commerce turned their annual holiday party into an evening of cocktails and giving.
“This is the 3rd annual Charity Challenge and were once again pleased with the turnout,” said Chamber Executive Director Kevin O’Keeffe. “We made it possible to raise funds for American Legion Post 128, Heart Haven Outreach, the H.E.A.R.T. Organization, Rotary Club of Bolingbrook and United Way of Will County.”
Southern Glazer’s Wine & Spirits is the presenting sponsor of the Charity Challenge.

The event was a competition among Bolingbrook establishments to see who could garner the most tips towards their chosen charity.
Guest bartenders from the Bolingbrook Golf Course, Salt Bar at iPic, Rock Bottom Brewery and McWethy’s Sport Bar converged at Ashbury’s at Boughton Ridge, in Bolingbrook to sling signature cocktails and to raise funds for their respective charities. Representatives from their nonprofits also came out in force to help raise money and awareness.

“We were so pleased by the turnout,” said O’Keeffe. “It was a great way to kick off the holiday season. Ashbury’s did a wonderful job accommodating the guest bartenders. They even decorated the stage, creating a great photo booth.
“The community’s generosity was amazing. We are grateful to the bars/restaurants that sent staff and then came out to support them.
“We are also grateful to Southern Glazer’s Wine & Spirits for their sponsorship of the Challenge.”
The bartender with the most tips also earned an extra $500, courtesy of the Bolingbrook Chamber Board of Directors, for their charity as well as hosting privileges for their establishment for the Chamber’s 2019 Holiday Party. McWethy’s, working for the Heart Haven Outreach, was tops in tips and will be the site of the Dec. 2, 2020 holiday party.
Second place bartender earned an extra $300 for their charity, while third, fourth and fifth places earned an extra $100 each, also courtesy of the Bolingbrook Chamber.
