Bolingbrook Looks to Put Music Program in the 'Clouds'

Major fundraising effort under way for new Bolingbrook High School accoustical cloud system.

The following article was submitted by Valley View School District 365U:

Bolingbrook High School’s Music Department has launched a community-wide campaign to raise money to purchase an “acoustical cloud” system for the BHS auditorium.

“While the current auditorium was designed to handle a “cloud” system when the new Bolingbrook High School was built, other school district financial priorities prevented the actual purchase and installation at the time,” said BHS Music Boosters President Diane Parro, who is serving as co-chair of thefundraiser along with Aimee Rupsis, BHS Director of Bands. “Because the school district continues to have many other critical budget priorities, we have taken it upon ourselves to raise the money necessary to make this system a reality.”

According to Rupsis and BHS Choral Director Lawrence Fisher, an acoustical cloud shell design will enable musicians and singers to hear more accurately, will allow conductors to hear a truer mix of sounds and, most importantly, will give the audience a significantly better sound experience throughout the entire auditorium.

“Installation of these acoustical clouds will make Bolingbrook High School’s auditorium one of the most functional and attractive indoor stages in the southwest suburban area,” Rupsis said.

The fundraising campaign will feature a variety of donor levels with the names of individual donors displayed on a soon-to-be created donor wall in the  auditorium lobby.
