Gas Station Robberies: Bolingbrook Man Faces Charges

Police were notified of a suspicious vehicle, which matched the description of a vehicle involved in prior robberies, near Meijer on Nov. 1.

BOLINGBROOK, IL — A Bolingbrook man has been charged in connection with two robberies at the Meijer gas station in Bolingbrook, according to Bolingbrook Police.

At 1:40 p.m. on Nov. 1, police were notified of a suspicious vehicle near Meijer at 225 N. Weber Road. Police said the vehicle matched the description of a vehicle involved in two prior robberies at the gas station.

A traffic stop was attempted, and the vehicle fled to a home on Tecumseh Drive, according to police. The driver and passenger of the vehicle fled on foot into the home.

Police said they spoke with the homeowner and were able to convince the two people who fled to exit the home. Sturdivant was taken into custody, and he was charged with fleeing and attempt to elude a police officer, driving on a revoked license, operation of an uninsured motor vehicle and disobeying a stop sign. Sturdivant was taken to the Will County Adult Detention Facility, and was released Nov. 2.

After investigation and consultation with the Will County State's Attorney Office, a search warrant was served at the residence on Tecumseh Drive, police said. After reviewing evidence related to the prior robbery at the gas station, an arrest warrant was issued for Sturdivant.

Sturdivant was charged with three counts of aggravated robbery, unlawful possession of a firearm and unlawful possession of ammunition. Bond was set at $100,000.

Sturdivant was taken into custody again on Nov. 5 and was taken to the Will County Adult Detention Facility.
