Bolingbrook Man Fatally Shot By Police Identified

Christopher Hansen was killed by police after he stabbed and killed a dog, and stabbed another person, police said.

BOLINGBROOK, IL — A man who was shot by police after police said he stabbed and killed a dog and stabbed another man has been identified as Christopher Hansen, 37, of Bolingbrook, according to the Will County Coroner's Office.

Hansen was pronounced dead on July 22 at Amita Health Adventist Medical Center in Bolingbrook as the result of multiple gunshot wounds, the coroner's office said.

The Will Grundy Major Crimes Task Force is investigating the incident.

The incident took place at 3:22 p.m. in the 500 block of Spruce Road, where officers were called regarding the stabbing, police said. Reports indicated that Hansen had stabbed and killed the dog, then also stabbed the other person.

Police said in a news release that officers engaged with Hansen and shot him. Hansen and the stabbing victim were both taken to local hospitals, where Hansen died, police said. The stabbing victim was in stable condition as of Monday.
