Bolingbrook Man Sexually Abused Girl for 5 Years: Police

A Bolingbrook man is accused of sexually abusing a girl, now 17, over a five-year period, police said.

Daniel Hillsman, 58, of the 600 block of Preston, was arrested shortly before 3:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Ramada Inn in Bolingbrook, according to police.

Lt. Mike Rompa said police conducted an investigation after receiving a report of alleged sexual abuse that took place over a period of five years.

He said police notified the Department of Children and Family Services and initiated a safety plan for the victim, along with seizing cell phones and a laptop belonging to Hillsman.

According to Will County jail records, Hillsman, who is being held on $1 million bond, is charged with predatory criminal sexual assault, aggravated child pornography, criminal sexual abuse of a person under age 17 and aggravated criminal sexual abuse.

Bolingbrook detectives were also assisted by the Sexual Predator Electronic Exploitation Detectives from the DuPage County Sheriff’s Department. They played a vital role in retrieving items of evidentiary value, police said.
