Bolingbrook Police Department Honored With 2026 Special Olympics Illinois Flame Of Hope Award

The Flame of Hope Award is one of the highest distinctions presented by Special Olympics Illinois to law enforcement agencies.

BOLINGBROOK, IL — The Bolingbrook Police Department announced it has been named the 2026 Flame of Hope Award recipient by Special Olympics Illinois, according to a news release from the department.

"This award recognizes outstanding commitment and dedication to supporting athletes with intellectual disabilities through year-round fundraising, advocacy and community engagement," the department said. The Flame of Hope Award is one of the highest distinctions presented by Special Olympics Illinois to law enforcement agencies.

Over the past year, the Bolingbrook Police Department has strengthened its partnership with Special Olympics Illinois. Officers have participated in initiatives such as the Law Enforcement Torch Run, Polar Plunge, and other community-based fundraising efforts, the department said.
