Standardized testing is a very controversial topic and well debated topic. With the transition to the Common Core Standards, the discussion continues nationally and within our own community. To continue this dialogue, a community forum is being held on Tuesday, December 2nd from 6:30-8:00 p.m. at the Fountaindale Public Library, 300 W. Briarcliff Road, in Bolingbrook. Our speakers will debate the importance of standardized testing in our education system, discuss alternatives to standardized testing, and share their stance on this important debate. Speakers will include Dr. James Mitchem, Superintendent of Valley View Community Unit School District and Shawn Jarmuz, Professor of Psychology, guidance counselor, and former college baseball coach. A question and answer period will be held at the end of the event. Everyone is welcome to attend and admission is free. If you have any questions please contact Megan Walsh, University of Illinois Extension Educator, at 815-727-9296.
