Find Stacy Peterson GoFundMe Gets Few Donors

Cassandra Cales, Stacy's sister, launched the GoFundMe March 27.

BOLINGBROOK, IL - Back in March, Stacy Peterson's sister announced on social media that she had launched a fund-raising campaign aimed at recovering the dead body of her sister. Cassandra Cales informed thousands of devoted followers on Facebook of her new initiative called Help Me Bring Stacy Peterson Home. Cales set up a GoFundMe account. Her goal was to raise $25,000.

"This is the last piece of the puzzle and what will bring my sister's remains home. The final estimate for the equipment and divers to be brought in from across the country is far lower than I was originally told it would cost me. I have updated this GoFundMe request to reflect that change," her message reads.

The GoFundMe was started on March 27. Wednesday marked the first time in the past month the Stacy Peterson GoFundMe received a donation. There was a $25 donation to the cause.

Another ten people made donations to the GoFundMe about a month ago, totaling about $400.

Prior to launching the GoFundMe, Cales drew widespread news media attention after she announced on Facebook back on March 14 that Will County State's Attorney James Glasgow was about to file murder charges against Drew Peterson.

"Why am I coming forward with this now? What is the rush? It is because the Will County State’s Attorney and Illinois State Police are moving forward to charge Drew, in the near future and without her body, for the murder of my sister," Cales declared. "Drew Peterson disposed of my sister’s body on the evening of October 28th, 2007, in the Sanitary and Shipping Canal, after having dropped off his step-brother. I have sonar images of her lifeless body on the bottom of the riverbed, which I will never release."

But three months later, no murder charges have been brought against Peterson, who is already serving a life prison term for killing his third wife, Kathleen Savio.

Thanks to Wednesday night's $25 donation, the Help Me Bring Stacy Peterson Home campaign has now raised $1,145 by 30 people as it enters its third month. At this point, the fund-raising goal is at less than 5 percent toward reaching its $25,000 goal.
