Drew Peterson To Be Charged Soon With Stacy's Murder, Sister Says
On Wednesday night, Cassandra Cales declared that murder charges will be filed soon.

BOLINGBROOK, IL - On Wednesday night, the sister of Stacy Peterson posted a lengthy message on social media letting everyone know that criminal charges are nearing against the man suspected of killing Stacy and hiding her body back in October 2007, now more than 10 years ago. Cassandra Cales reminded her murdered sister's followers on Facebook that she has never stopped searching for her sister. "It has come time for me to share with the world what I know as I will no longer bite my tongue and wait.
"Why am I coming forward with this now? What is the rush? It is because the Will County State's Attorney and Illinois State Police are moving forward to charge Drew, in the near future and without her body, for the murder of my sister," she declared.
However, Cales' post was harshly critical of the police. She mentioned that "I have fought this fight for my sister as I trust very few. Law enforcement has never worked with me or kept me apprised of their so-called 'ongoing' investigation. I have to find out my information through a back channel of contacts and my own personal investigating ..."

On Friday morning, Patch reached out to the Will County State's Attorney's Office for comment. The office was aware of Cassandra Cales' comments on social media. State's Attorney James Glasgow's spokesman Chuck Pelkie said that Glasgow has consistently maintained that "he is looking at this case with an eye toward charging it."

Glasgow has made those comments on multiple occasions during the past year, Pelkie said. Last September, when Drew Peterson's murder conviction was upheld by the Illinois Supreme Court for the death of his third wife, Kathleen Savio, Glasgow told Patch and other Chicago area news outlets that he still wanted to bring justice to Stacy Peterson.

"The investigation regarding Stacy Peterson is not closed by any stretch of the imagination," Glasgow told reporters last September.
"There is evidence that could potentially reach the level to bring a charge," Glasgow said, adding that he was not in a position to reveal specifics at the moment.
Glasgow also reminded all the journalists gathered in the room that "you can never have enough murder convictions of a murderer."

That was back in September. Now another six months have passed. Is Glasgow finally ready to hold Drew Peterson accountable for the murder and disposal of his fourth wife's body?
Pelkie told Patch on Friday that "there is no timeline on it," noting that the State's Attorney's staff has met with investigators at the Illinois State Police "on multiple occasions."

But would the State's Attorney's Office remain reluctant to file additional murder charges against Drew considering that Stacy Peterson's body has never been found? After all, next month will mark 11 years since Lisa Stebic vanished without a trace from her home in Plainfield. Although Plainfield Police have pointed the finger at her estranged husband, Craig Stebic, Glasgow's office has not filed criminal charges in Lisa Stebic's disappearance.
Like Stacy Peterson, who also disappeared in 2007, Lisa Stebic's body has never been found.

When asked specifically about whether Glasgow would move ahead with charges in Stacy Peterson's case, Pelkie said: "Every case is unique and charged based on the evidence available."
Pelkie stressed that murder charges can still be filed in cases without the victim's body.
In Wednesday night's Facebook post, Stacy Peterson's sister informed everyone that the news of the pending charges against Drew Peterson, "I feel like it should come from me as a victim, from my own heart and mouth."

Then Cales declared "Drew Peterson disposed of my sister's body on the evening of October 28th, 2007, in the Sanitary and Shipping Canal, after having dropped off his step-brother. I have sonar images of her lifeless body on the bottom of the riverbed, which I will never release. That is not how I want the world to remember my beautiful sister. These images have already made it into the wrong hands of some of my past 'searchers' back when I trusted people and thought they were trying to help. Law enforcement messed up in 2007 and never sent divers down to recover her body ..."
