Interesting Insight on BHS's "The Little Mermaid"

Cast members describe their experience on set of the beloved musical and discuss the work put in to create something magical

Bolingbrook High School has an exceptional drama program and they are at it again, putting on The Little Mermaid this spring. BHS puts a modern twist on a classic tale, showcasing unbelievable talent in singing and acting. Cast members look and feel the part.

Kami McNulty, participating in musicals since she was in 2nd grade and very devoted to the arts, shares her take: "It's something that has really helped me open up and do things I love doing: singing and dancing. A lot of the friends I have now were made through musicals and the experiences of them. It is a big time commitment and rehearsals can get very tiring and long but you have a ton of fun with your friends while doing it. It's not like anything I've ever done before because there's so many different aspects to it."

During Tech Week, the week prior to the musical, performers are at the school rehearsing until 10 or 11 P.M. "...of course we're so tired, but it's such a cool bonding experience and is so much fun. The most important part of being in a musical is to remember that you're not there for the 'praise' of being an 'important part' but you're there for the experience, the friends, and the fun you will have through rehearsals and while on stage." Look out for Kami as Flounder in the musical!
