Man, 76, Found Dead After Police Conduct Well-Being Check: BPD

Bolingbrook police discovered a 76-year-old man dead in his house, a few hours after first attempting and failing to make contact with him.

BOLINGBROOK, IL — A 76-year-old man was found dead Tuesday, a few hours after police were called in to conduct a well-being check, officials said.

Officers were dispatched at 8:34 a.m. to the 300 block of Applewood Drive to conduct a wellness check on a man who threatened to harm himself. Bolingbrook police attempted to contact him through multiple communication avenues without success, according to a news release.

Shortly after noon, officers entered the residence and located the man, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Will County Coroner's Office on Wednesday identified the man as Carlos D. Hevia. The final cause and manner of death are pending autopsy, police and toxicology reports.

Officials said they are withholding his identity until his family can be properly notified.
