Joane Suma

Joane Suma, age 92, passed away surrounded by the love of her family on Friday, October 16, 2026. Born in Chicago, the daughter of the late John and Eleanor (Ciemny) Machala.

Joane retired at the age of 81 after 40 years in communications. After retiring, she embraced the lifestyle and activities at her local senior centers.

Joane is survived by her daughters, Donna Suma, Linda Springer, Nancy (Steve) Hill, Judy Suma, and Kim (Timothy) Pollowy; her grandchildren, Bradley (Karen) Springer, Kelsey (Joel) Albers, John (Samantha) Shulda, Jeremy Shulda, Caylee (Eric) Caudillo, Cassandra Pollowy, and Kendyl Rausch; her five great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Arnold Machala; and her twin sister, Diane Capps.

A Memorial Gathering will be held on Thursday, October 22, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at 12:00 p.m. at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black Rd, Joliet. Inurnment will be held privately at Resurrection Cemetery, Justice.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in Joane’s name to any charity the donor chooses.
