Small Plane Makes Emergency Landing On I-355 In Bolingbrook

Police did not say why the plane made an emergency landing.

BOLINGBROOK, IL — A small passenger airplane made an emergency landing on I-355 southbound in Bolingbrook on Tuesday, according to Illinois State Police.

The landing happened at 1:59 p.m. Tuesday on I-355 southbound at milepost 13.7, police said.

The plane did not strike any vehicles or fixed objects, and the pilot is uninjured, according to police. Police did not provide a reason why the emergency landing happened.

On its Facebook page, the Bolingbrook Fire Department said the landing was due to an engine failure.

This isn't the first emergency landing on I-355 in recent years. In 2021, a small plane, carrying four people, made an emergency landing due to an engine problem. That plane landed on I-355 southbound near New Lenox.
