BOLINGBROOK, IL — Sunday, Oct. 28, 2007, was the last day anyone saw Stacy Peterson, a mother of two and the fourth wife of Bolingbrook Police Sgt. Drew Peterson — now a convicted murderer.

In the 15 years since Stacy's disappearance, Drew Peterson was found guilty of the murder of his third wife, Kathleen Savio. In 2016, Peterson was also convicted in connection with a murder-for-hire plot targeting the Will County State's Attorney.

No one has seen Stacy since that day in 2007, and no one has been charged in connection with her disappearance.

This year, Norma Peterson, Stacy's sister in-law, spoke to ABC7 Chicago, saying that she knows Stacy would not leave her children and that "family meant everything to her and that she would not willingly leave this family."

In 2021, Stacy's sister Cassandra Cales told reporters that police searched part of the Chicago Sanitary and Ship Canal in Lockport after a tip from her.

Cales said she used a sonar device on an underwater robotic in May in the canal and found skeletal remains.

"We gave it to the state police, law enforcement, state's attorney; they even came on site to see it," Cales said at the time.

Cales said she was told something would happen, and five months later, authorities searched the area. Nothing was found during the search, but Cale said she will be back.

If she's still alive, Stacy Peterson would be 38 years old now. She was 23 when she vanished from her Bolingbrook home.

In 2017, a decade after Stacy vanished, Will County State’s Attorney James Glasgow said his office was still vigorously pursuing the possibility of bringing additional murder charges against Drew Peterson in her case. Patch has reached out to Glasgow's office for comment on the status of Stacy's case.
