Valley View Superintendent Pledges to 'Spread the Word to End the Word'

With students from the VVSD Secondary Transition Experience Program (S.T.E.P.) looking on, Superintendent Dr. James Mitchem signs a pledge to “Spread the Word to End the Word.” As part of Ability Awareness Month, S.T.E.P. students have launched a campaign to raise awareness about how using the word “retard” is disrespectful to people with intellectual disabilities.
