Veteran Educator Named Valley View's Director of Pre K-5 Math and Science
She will begin the new job July 1.

An educator with nearly a dozen years of teaching and curriculum development experience has been named Director of Pre K-5 Math and Science for Valley View School District 365U, effective July 1.
Dr. Jillian Tsoukalas, currently Kindergarten Curriculum Coordinator and K-2 Math Content Specialist for West Aurora School District 129, succeeds Adam Hurder who will become VVSD’s Executive Director for Pre K-5 Educational Services on July 1.

A graduate of St. Xavier University with a Bachelor’s Degree in elementary education, she holds a Masters in curriculum and instruction from Olivet Nazarene University and a Doctor of Education Degree in Teacher Leadership from Walden University.
Prior to joining District 129, Dr. Tsoukalas was a Regional Coach for the Illinois State Board of Education Kindergarten Individual Development Survey (KIDS) for two years; and a kindergarten, 3rd and 4th grade teacher in Midlothian School District 143 for nine years.

She also has experience as a leader of professional development seminars for teachers and as a children’s tutor.
