Woman, 74, Killed In Bolingbrook House Fire: Coroner

Betty Kucan, of Bolingbrook, was pronounced dead on Monday as the result of injuries received in a house fire.

BOLINGBROOK, IL — A 74-year-old woman was killed in a house fire on Monday in Bolingbrook, according to the Will County Coroner's Office.

The coroner's office said Betty Kucan, of Bolingbrook, was pronounced dead on Monday as the result of injuries received in a house fire.

Firefighters arrived at the home at 6:09 a.m. Monday on South Orchard Drive, and found heavy smoke and fire in the attic and second floor of a two-story, single-family home, according to a news release. It was also reported that there was a possible victim inside the home.

Firefighters began suppression and search and rescue operations; and crews encountered heavy smoke and fire on the second floor of the home, according to the release.

Kucan was found dead in a rear bedroom of the home, according to the department. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

The Bolingbrook Police Department is investigating the incident, the coroner's office said.
