Brookfield’s first-ever vegan street fest was such a hit, it’s returning for an encore on Nov. 7, 2026. The inaugural Vegan on Broadway fest attracted hundreds of people to Broadway Avenue on Oct. 3 outside the Brookfield Shops at Progress Park on a beautiful fall day. Brookfield residents and visitors from around Chicagoland explored 12 vegan vendors selling hot food, packaged vegan food, microgreens, baked goods, jewelry, drinks, and other vegan artisanal goods.

“We were blown away by the turnout. People came from all over Chicago and the suburbs for the event. Some walked, some drove, and some even took the train into town for this event,” said Valerie Vedral, organizer of the event and the founder of The Vulgar Vegan, which occupies Shop 1 at the Brookfield Shops at Progress Park. “It was a day filled with incredibly delicious food, talented vendors, great live music, and happy crowds. We couldn’t have asked for a better day.”&nbsp;

“This put Brookfield on the map as a destination for vegans,” said Brian Moore, director of marketing for The Vulgar Vegan. “We hoped it would not only attract Brookfield residents curious to explore the vegan lifestyle but also people from surrounding communities to explore what Brookfield offers. It did both, and we’re riding that momentum right into the next event.”

Vegan on Broadway t-shirts and totes, created by Brookfield Shops vendor 34Designed, were available at the fest and can still be purchased at 34Designed and The Vulgar Vegan. Throughout the day, local musician Jason Sisk, who can often be found at Pub 78’s open-mic night, performed in the courtyard of the Brookfield Shops.

The next Vegan on Broadway will be noon to 4 p.m. Nov. 7 on Broadway Avenue outside the Brookfield Shops at Progress Park. It will feature even more vegan vendors selling hot food, packaged food, pet treats, vegan honey, microgreens, baked goods, jewelry, drinks, personal care products, and other artisanal goods plus nonprofits educating attendees. Jason Sisk will play live music throughout the day.
