CHICAGO, IL — A 21-year-old man accused of robbing a Logan Square cellphone store at gunpoint Tuesday was arrested later in the day after a Chicago SWAT unit surrounded the nearby building he fled to, according to police. Dreonta Deton, of the 1300 block of South Blue Island Avenue, is charged with felony armed robbery stemming from the incident, and his bail hearing is scheduled for Wednesday.
According to police, Deton walked into the business in the 2700 block of North Milwaukee Avenue at around 10:44 a.m. Tuesday, June 6, and he allegedly demanded an employee who he had forced into a backroom to hand over several phones and other electronics. He then allegedly pulled a gun and forced the worker to empty the store's cash register, police said.
