Comedian Ed Alonzo, who played Max the waiter on the show, made the announcement via YouTube on Tuesday. Hints were made a few months back that a temporary pop-up would open in Wicker Park this year, but the address had been kept a secret until Alonzo’s video announcement.
The pop-up diner will be located at the former Geek Bar inside the Flat Iron building. Geek Bar, which had closed and opened elsewhere under a new name, will return after the monthlong run of “Saved by the Max.”
The diner will make you feel like a member of the show’s iconic cast. Menu items include AC Sliders, a Preppy BLT, Macaroni & Screech and a Lisa Turtle Milkshake. The place will be open from 5 p.m. to 2 a.m. every night and until 3 a.m. on Saturdays.
Reservations for “Saved by the Max” can be made beginning Friday at savedbythemax.com.
