2 Men Attempt To Steal Gas Station ATM: Buffalo Grove Police Blotter

The pair had broken the right front entry door and entered the Mobil gas station, according to police.

BUFFALO GROVE, IL — The following information comes from the Buffalo Grove Police Department (except when noted) and court records as a record of incidents reported to police and those arrested on criminal charges, which represent accusations by the state that are often dropped or reduced.

Updated information may be available from the Lake County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Everyone arrested is presumed to be innocent unless found guilty in court beyond a reasonable doubt.

INCIDENTS

RETAIL THEFT

An employee of Walgreens, 15 N. Buffalo Grove Road, reported at 7:57 p.m. Feb. 7, a retail theft. The employee said two men came into the store, stole two bottles of alcohol and left in a black Mazda SUV, in an unknown direction.

An employee of Mobil, 10 W. Dundee Road, called police at 1:30 a.m. Feb. 8, to report a front entry door on the south-facing side of the building had been shattered. At 12:15 a.m., two men broke the right front entry door and entered the gas station. They unsuccessfully attempted to remove the ATM located just inside the entrance. They returned to their cars and fled in an unknown direction.

THEFT

A resident in the 500 block of Le Parc reported at 9:22 p.m. Feb. 8, they had a package stolen from their front step.

MOTOR VEHICLE THEFT

A resident in the 800 block of Stradford Circle called police on Feb. 6 to report their vehicle, a KIA Optima, had been stolen from the driveway between 10 p.m. and 4 a.m.

CRIMINAL DAMAGE TO VEHICLE

Police were called to Mariano's, 450 W. Half Day Road, at 1:50 p.m. Feb. 10, for criminal damage to vehicle report. The victim said that at around 1 p.m., they had parked their pickup truck. When they left the store at 1:45 p.m., they discovered their rear driver-side tire was flat.

BURGLARY

Police were called to BG Liquor, 223 W. Dundee Road, at 2:51 a.m. Feb. 11, for a burglary. Police found multiple glass panels damaged or shattered, estimated loss at $1,700. While patrolling the area, police also found a burglary had occurred at The Smoker's Hut and Sneakers, 80 W. Dundee Road. Police found the front door had broken glass. A further investigation revealed a piece of cement was used to break the door and was laying in the entrance. Several vapes were also lying on the floor near the counter, and an orange vape was laying outside on the sidewalk.
