Drunken Driver Hits Trees, Traffic Signal: Buffalo Grove PD Blotter
Police found debris strewn across the road prior to the driving under the influence arrest.

BUFFALO GROVE, IL — The following information comes from the Buffalo Grove Police Department (except when noted) and court records as a record of incidents reported to police and those arrested on criminal charges, which represent accusations by the state that are often dropped or reduced.
Updated information may be available from the Lake County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Everyone arrested is presumed to be innocent unless found guilty in court beyond a reasonable doubt.

DRIVING WHILE LICENSE SUSPENDED/REVOKED

- Rebeca Michelle Rivera, 26, of the 1200 block of Union Court, Wheeling, is accused of driving on a suspended license, operating an uninsured motor vehicle, driving with an inoperable headlight, and was arrested at 7:38 p.m. Feb. 1, in the 1400 block of Lake Cook Road. She was released and assigned a court date of Feb. 16.
- Steven Lynn Nelson, 25, of the 200 block of N. West Street, Waukegan, is accused of driving on a suspended license, operating an uninsured motor vehicle, operating a motor vehicle with a suspended registration, having an expired registration, and was arrested at 4:36 p.m. Feb. 3, at N. Buffalo Grove Road and Foxford Drive. He was released and assigned a court date of March 8.
DRIVING UNDER THE INFLUENCE
- Faustino Arreaga Oropeza, 30, is accused of driving under the influence of alcohol, DUI alcohol with a blood alcohol concentration level of .08 or more, and was arrested at 4:46 a.m. Feb. 3, in the 800 block of Vernon Court. He was released and assigned a court date of Feb. 21.
- Jonathan R. Gonzales, 25, of the 23100 block of W. North Lakewood Lane, Lake Zurich, is accused of DUI alcohol, driving too fast for conditions, and was arrested at 12:24 a.m. Feb. 6, at McHenry Road and W. Pauline Avenue. Police were responding to a traffic accident and found debris strewn across the road with several light posts, trees and a traffic signal damaged. He was released and assigned a court date of March 6.

INCIDENTS
CRIMINAL DAMAGE TO PROPERTY
A resident in the 1400 block of Chase Court reported at 12:35 p.m. Feb. 3, their mailbox had been taken down by someone. The screws that secure the mailbox to the wooden post had been forcefully removed, causing damage to the mailbox. The cap that is typically placed on the top of the post was also taken down and left on the street.
