Beer Purchase Dispute At CVS; Golf Ball Hits Windshield: Blotter
A man refused to comply with liquor purchasing laws at CVS; a motorist said their car windshield was hit by golfer: Buffalo Grove Blotter.

BUFFALO GROVE, IL — The following information comes from the Buffalo Grove Police Department (except when noted) and court records as a record of incidents reported to police and those arrested on criminal charges, which represent accusations by the state that are often dropped or reduced.
Updated information may be available from the Lake County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Everyone arrested is presumed to be innocent unless found guilty in court beyond a reasonable doubt.

DOMESTIC BATTERY

- Deanphony Xavier Broadnax, 21, of Crystal Lake, is accused of domestic battery, domestic battery/physical contact, criminal damage to property, and was arrested at 2:38 p.m Sept. 26 in Buffalo Grove. He was scheduled to appear in court on Sept. 27 in Waukegan.
- Charles Michael Murphy, 40, of Buffalo Grove, is accused of two counts of domestic battery, and was arrested at 9:39 a.m. Sept. 29. He was scheduled to appear in court on Sept. 29 in Rolling Meadows.
DRIVING ON A SUSPENDED/REVOKED LICENSE
- Lidia Ibarra, 39, of the 1700 block of Queensbury Circle, Hoffman Estates, is accused of driving with a suspended/revoked license, driving with only one headlamp, and was arrested at 11:45 p.m. Sept. 29 on Arlington Heights Road and Checker Drive. Her bond was set at $2,500, and she was assigned a court date of Nov. 13 in Mundelein.
- Jose L. Ortega, 53, of the 24600 block of W Luther Avenue, Round Lake, is accused of driving with a suspended/revoked license, speeding over the statutory limit (51 mph in a 35 mph zone), and was arrested at 4 p.m. Sept. 25 at Half Day Road and Apple Hill Lane. His bond was set at $2,500, and he was assigned a court date of Nov. 20 in Mundelein.
- Lynn Staples, 60, of the 2100 block of Hebron Avenue, Zion, is accused of driving on a suspended/revoked license, and was arrested at 6:23 p.m. Sept. 25 at Barclay Boulevard and Asbury Drive. His bond was set at $2,500.
- Sandy Bimbo, 36, of the 1400 block of Mill Creek Drive, Buffalo Grove, is accused of driving on a suspended/revoked driver's license, driving while sending/reading/composing text messages, and was arrested at 2:44 p.m. Oct. 1 at Lake Cook Road and Raupp Boulevard. She was assigned a court date of Nov. 13 in Mundelein.
- Juan Cortez, Jr., 27, of the 7300 block of Jasmine Drive, Hanover Park, is accused of driving with a suspended/revoked driver's license, no insurance, operating an uninsured vehicle, driving with one head lamp, and was arrested at 11:53 p.m. Sept. 30. His bond was set at $3,000, and he was assigned a court date of Oct. 16.
POSSESSION OF A CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE

Jared Logan Winter, 25, of the 6500 block of Pine Tree Drive, Long Grove, is accused of possession of a controlled substance, speeding (70 mph in a 45 mph zone), and was arrested at 6:52 p.m. Sept. 28 at Arlington Heights Road near Vintage.
INCIDENTS
ACCIDENTAL DAMAGE TO PROPERTY
A person driving near the Arboretum Golf Club, Half Day and Buffalo Grove roads, reported at 6:11 p.m. Sept. 25 that their windshield on their Acura was struck by a golf ball, causing a circular dent and spider cracks outward. A golfer on hole No. 10 told the driver it was his errant ball that struck the driver's windshield. The golfer provided their phone number and the driver contacted her insurance company.
THEFT $500 AND UNDER
A resident in the 900 block of Belmar Lane called police at 11:23 a.m. Sept. 30 to report a political sign was taken from the property. The sign was nailed to the fence on the northern edge of the property, facing McHenry Road.
THEFT OVER $500
An employee of a business in the 700 block of E Lake Cook Road reported at 8:11 a.m. Sept. 28 a floor scale had been taken from the building during the overnight hours.
RETAIL THEFT
An employee of CVS Pharmacy, 20 E Dundee Road, called police at 10:32 p.m. Sept. 26 to report a retail theft in progress. A man was in the store for around 30 minutes before running outside with stolen items in his hands. The value of the items is approximately $130. The man is described as black, in his mid 50s, wearing a black winter hat, beige/tan coat, black hair and wearing a surgical mask.
SUSPICIOUS INCIDENT/CIRCUMSTANCES
A resident in the 400 block of Chateau Drive, reported at 7:36 a.m. Sept. 26 there was some activity on their Ring cameras from the overnight hours. At around 1:55 a.m. a man is seen approaching a vehicle parked in the driveway. The man attempted to gain entry, with no success. The motion light above the garage activated and startled the man, who then ran across the front yard. Another male is seen walking toward the first man and the two leave the immediate area together.
CUSTOMER/MANAGEMENT DISPUTE
An employee at Bucky's, 10 W Dundee Road, called police at 2:30 a.m. Sept. 26 to report an unknown man walked into the business and wanted to purchase alcohol. When denied purchase due to the time, the man grabbed one Icehouse Edge ($1.79) and two Steel Reserve beers ($1.89 each) from the refrigeration section. The man then walked up to the register, put down two $20 bills and walked out. The man is described as white, around 5-feet-8, with the name "Tony" on his shirt, and wearing glasses. He was seen getting into the passenger side of a blue sedan, which then drove westbound on Dundee Road.
