BMW Crash Victim ID'D As Lake County Teen: Coroner

The 17-year-old crashed into a tree after losing control of his car Monday morning and was pronounced dead at the scene in Deer Park.

DEER PARK, IL — A 17-year-old Barrington resident has been identified as the victim of a fatal traffic crash that occurred Monday morning in Deer Park. Maximillan Sahinoglu died after losing control of his BMW and crashing into a tree.

Preliminary results of an autopsy conducted Tuesday by the Lake County Coroner indicate Sahinoglu died from blunt force injuries sustained as a result of the crash.

According to the Lake County Sheriff's Office, deputies responded to the scene at around 7:50 a.m. March 9, on Ela Road, north of Long Grove Road. Deputies located a BMW sedan that had sustained catastrophic damage. Sahinoglu, the sole occupant of the vehicle, was pronounced dead at the scene.

A preliminary investigation by LCSO indicates that the BMW was traveling southbound on Ela Road at a high speed when Sahinoglu lost control of the vehicle, drove off the roadway, and then struck a tree.

The Lake County Sheriff's Office Technical Crash Investigations Team is continuing to investigate the incident. Further details will be released as the investigation progresses.
