Car Broken Into Following Lunch Break: Buffalo Grove Police Blotter
An employee of a business on McHenry Road said she had eaten lunch in her car only hours earlier and returned to find it broken into.

BUFFALO GROVE, IL — The following information comes from the Buffalo Grove Police Department (except when noted) and court records as a record of incidents reported to police and those arrested on criminal charges, which represent accusations by the state that are often dropped or reduced.
Updated information may be available from the Lake County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Everyone arrested is presumed to be innocent unless found guilty in court beyond a reasonable doubt.
INCIDENTS
CRIMINAL TRESPASS TO VEHICLE
An employee of a business in the 0-10 block of McHenry Road, reported at 6:15 p.m. Feb. 20, her vehicle had been entered by an unknown person. She told police she was inside her car for a lunch break at 4 p.m. When she returned to her car at 6:15 p.m., she noticed her car had been entered. The front passenger side door was left slightly opened. Her glove compartment and center console had been searched.

RETAIL THEFT
- Security at Woodman's Grocery, 1550 E. Deerfield Parkway, called police at 2:32 p.m. Feb. 23, to report they had stopped a shoplifter and brought them back into their office. The person was seen loading a shopping cart with merchandise through security footage. Security then saw the person walk the entirety of the store and attempted to exit through the west exit without paying for the items, which totaled $80.48. Police issued the person a trespass warning and a retail theft adjudication ticket.
- An employee at Woodman's Grocery, 1550 E. Deerfield Parkway, reported at 1:27 p.m. Feb. 26, they had seen a customer not scan all the items inside his shopping cart at the self-checkout line and walk out of the store without paying for them. Police spoke to the man by phone and he agreed to return to the store on Feb. 27 and pay for them. The man was given a trespass warning.

CRIMINAL DAMAGE TO PROPERTY
A car parked in a lot in the 800 block of Miller Lane was discovered at 7:25 p.m. Feb. 24, with a damaged windshield and two drivers' side windows were broken. The driver's door frame was also damaged.
RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY
- A resident in the 200 block of Pauline Avenue reported that between Feb. 25 and Feb. 26, someone had forced entry into their home. The victim found the interior of the home ransacked.
- Police responded to the 100 block of Copperwood Drive at 9:10 p.m. Feb. 26, for a report of a residential burglary. The victim said someone had forced entry into their home. The interior of the home was found ransacked and personal items were stolen.
