Car Clocked Speeding At 114 MPH: Buffalo Grove Police Blotter

Police saw the vehicle, which had no front registration, driving southbound before it sped off.

BUFFALO GROVE, IL — The following information comes from the Buffalo Grove Police Department (except when noted) and court records as a record of incidents reported to police and those arrested on criminal charges, which represent accusations by the state that are often dropped or reduced.

Updated information may be available from the Lake County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Everyone arrested is presumed to be innocent unless found guilty in court beyond a reasonable doubt.

ARRESTS

Cory Smith, 23, of the 2400 block of N. Samson Way, Waukegan, had a warrant for a valid $200,000 D-Bond) and was arrested at 3:01 a.m. July 29, in the 70 block of S. Buffalo Grove Road after getting pulled over for driving without front registration. Smith was taken to the Lake County Jail.

  • Marqus J. Payton, 20, of the 800 block of Woodruff Road, Joliet, is accused of driving on a suspended license, not having tail lights, and was arrested at 11:18 p.m. July 29, at Lake Cook and N. Buffalo Grove roads. He was released after posting a $2,500 bond and was assigned a court date of Aug. 19.
  • Fonzie H. Walton, 30, of the 7600 block of S. Hermitage Avenue, Chicago, is accused of driving on a suspended license, no registration lights, and was arrested at 11:47 p.m. July 30, at Lake Cook Road and Raupp Boulevard. Walton was released after posting a $2,500 bond and was assigned a court date of Aug. 19.

DRIVING UNDER THE INFLUENCE

Wesley Michael Love, 32, of the 200 block of Stephens Street, Lemont, is accused of driving under the influence of alcohol, speeding 15-20 mph over the speed limit, and was arrested 2:03 a.m. July 30, at Dundee and Arlington Heights roads. He was released after posting bond and was assigned a court date of Aug. 17.

OPERATING A MOTOR VEHICLE WITH NO VALID LICENSE

Baltazar Lux Lux, 19, of the 1400 block of Chippewa Trail, Wheeling, is accused of operating a motor vehicle with no valid license, following too closely, failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident, and was arrested at 6:11 p.m. July 30, following a crash at McHenry and Buffalo Grove roads. They were released after posting bond and were assigned a court date of Aug. 19

THEFT OF MOTOR VEHICLE PARTS

A person reported at 8:30 a.m. July 28, the catalytic converter from their car was stolen while parked at Four Points by Sheraton Hotel, 900 block of W. Cook Road.

TRAFFIC AND RELATED ACTIVITY DISOBEYING OFFICER SIGNAL

While at the intersection of Arlington Heights Road and Heritage Place at around 2:31 a.m. July 29, police saw a vehicle with no front registration driving southbound. While attempting to catch up to the vehicle, police said it accelerated to a speed in excess of 100 mph. The newer model Dodge Charger with heavy tinted windows also had a loud exhaust. The car was clocked continuing southbound on Arlington Heights Road from Dundee Road at a speed of 114 mph.

THEFT

  • A Dundee Parkway resident reported at 6:40 a.m. July 30, someone stole a kid's electric car from the front porch overnight. The pink Infans 12V Kids Ride On Car Maserati Gran Cabrio with remote control and lights was found in a baseball field, damaged beyond repair. The wires were ripped out and the body was damaged.
  • A resident in the 1200 block of Deerfield Parkway called police at 6:11 p.m. July 29, to report a package delivered to the front door of the address was stolen.

BURGLARY TO MOTOR VEHICLE

A person called police at 8:24 p.m. July 30, to report their vehicle had been burglarized while parked on LaSalle Lane, near Brandywyn Lane. When the person went to move the car, they discovered the driver's side door had been left partially open and the vehicle's Illinois handicapped placard was missing. Nothing else was taken from the vehicle.

FIRE

Police responded at 9:43 p.m. July 31, to the 900 block of W. Dundee Road for a report of a car on fire. Police arrived and found a Jeep Wrangler on fire. The fire department extinguished the fire and there were no injuries.

THEFT FROM MOTOR VEHICLE

A person called police at 9:19 a.m. Aug. 1, to report the catalytic converter had been stolen from their car while it had been parked on Old Oak Drive.
