Catalytic Converter Thief Pulls Out Gun: Buffalo Grove PD Blotter

A witness saw two people attempting to steal a catalytic converter off a car parked in 1200 block of Deerfield Parkway.

BUFFALO GROVE, IL — The following information comes from the Buffalo Grove Police Department (except when noted) and court records as a record of incidents reported to police and those arrested on criminal charges, which represent accusations by the state that are often dropped or reduced.

Updated information may be available from the Lake County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Everyone arrested is presumed to be innocent unless found guilty in court beyond a reasonable doubt.

Vugar Khaimogly Mishiyev, 32, of the 500 block of Red Hill Drive, Carol Stream, is accused of driving under the influence of alcohol, DUI alcohol with a blood alcohol concentration level of .08 or more, speeding and was arrested at 2:34 a.m. Dec. 21, in the 1100 block of W. Dundee Road. He was released and assigned a court date of Jan. 10.

INCIDENTS

ARMED ROBBERY

Police responded to the 1200 block of Deerfield Parkway at 2:16 a.m. Dec. 20, for a report of a man with a gun. Upon arrival, police met with a complainant, who said two males with ski masks were taking a catalytic converter off a vehicle in the parking lot. One of the males pointed a gun at the witness. The suspects then got into a white four-door sedan and left the area.

THEFT

Police were called to The Clove construction site, 200 block of McHenry Road, at 12:09 p.m. Dec. 22, for a theft report of some prefabricated shower valves and copper pipe. The offender did not take the valves, which were left in their original boxes.

CRIMINAL DAMAGE TO PROPERTY

A resident in the 1100 block of Sandhurst Drive reported at 8:36 p.m. Dec. 25, criminal damage to property for damaged holiday decorations. The resident said they had last seen their decorations functioning properly on Dec. 21. They had returned home to find the wires to Hanukkah decorations cut.
