Area residents earn dean's list honors at Bradley University

More than 26,00 students were named to Bradley's Dean's List for Spring 2020. To be eligible for the Dean's List a student must achieve a minimum 3.5 grade point average for the semester on a 4.0 scale.

Laing graduates from Monmouth College
River Laing, of Buffalo Grove, has graduated Cum Laude from Monmouth College with a degree in communication and classics. Laing is the son of Scott and Nada Laing.

Palleboina receives degree from University of the Cumberlands

Suresh Palleboina, of Buffalo Grove, has received a Master of Science degree in Project Management.

Fox volunteers as Sustainapalooza planning committee member at Iowa State University

Isabelle Fox, of Buffalo Grove, volunteered as a member of the Sustainapalooza Planning Committee, a group responsible for the planning and implementation of a variety of tasks required for the Sustainapalooza event including catering, publicity and logistics.

Isabelle's participation contributed to a successful Sustainapalooza, which encouraged students and community members to "Picture Themselves in a Sustainable World," the theme of the event. Event attendees engaged in Green-It-Yourself activities, compiled a life-sized collage wall, donated to the Clothing Swap and learned about University and community organizations committed to sustainability in the tabling session.

Local students graduate from Georgia Tech University

The Georgia Institute of Technology awarded degrees to approximately 4,050 undergraduate and graduate students at the conclusion of spring semester. Students were celebrated during a virtual celebration held on May 1. They will also be honored during in-person commencement ceremonies to be held on campus later this year.

Among the graduates were:

  • Samantha Petti, of Buffalo Grove — Doctor of Philosophy in Algorithms, Combinatorics and Optimization
  • Oviya Thanigaivelan, of Buffalo Grove — Master of Science in Electrical and Computer Engineering
