Local students named to dean's list at University of Iowa

More than 8,500 undergraduate students at the University of Iowa were named to the dean's list for the 2020 spring semester. Local residents included:

Lehrfeld graduates from Ohio University

Joshua Lehrfeld, of Buffalo Grove, graduated with a Bachelor's of science degree in communications. More than 5,000 students graduated with bachelor's, master's or doctorate degrees from Ohio University for spring semester 2020. The graduates represented many areas of the United States and an abundance of countries, including: Canada, Ecuador, China, Ghana, India and Japan.

Lehrfeld was also named to the dean's list for the spring 2020 semester. More than 9,500 students qualified for the spring semester 2020 Dean's List at Ohio University, including main and regional campuses. Students on the Dean's List came from an array of states. More than 40 states were represented, including: Illinois, Kentucky, Alabama, Maryland, California, Virginia, Connecticut, Florida and Ohio, as well as Puerto Rico the District of Columbia.

Strezewski makes dean's list at Baldwin Wallace University

Sarah Strezewski, of Buffalo Grove, a graduate of Adlai E. Stevenson High School majoring in voice performance, has been named to the Dean's List for the spring 2020 semester at Baldwin Wallace University, according to Provost Stephen D. Stahl. Any full-time student who achieves a GPA of at least 3.6 for 12 or more graded hours or part-time student who achieves a GPA of at least 3.6 for six or more graded hours in the fall or spring semester will be placed on the Dean's List.

Laing named to dean's list at Monmouth College

River Laing, a communication and classics major from Buffalo Grove, has made the Dean's List at Monmouth College for the Spring 2020 semester. Making the list requires a GPA of at least 3.5 for the semester while taking at least 3.0 credit hours.

Simon inducted into The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi at University of Maryland

Chad Simon, of Buffalo Grove, was recently initiated into The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi, the nation's oldest and most selective all-discipline collegiate honor society. Simon was initiated at University of Maryland, College Park.

Simon is among approximately 30,000 students, faculty, professional staff and alumni to be initiated into Phi Kappa Phi each year.

Residents make dean's list at University of Wisconsin-Whitewater

The following students were named to the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater Dean's List for the 2020 spring semester:

• Jacob Riendeau, of Buffalo Grove

These students have demonstrated their academic abilities by receiving a grade point average of 3.4 or above in a single semester.

Bush graduates from University of Alabama

The University of Alabama awarded some 6,326 degrees this spring. Among the graduates was Colin Bush, of Buffalo Grove, who received a Bachelor of Science.

The recent change to remote learning during this unprecedented time affected the University's plans for traditional commencement activities. However, commencement is a milestone, and the University wants graduates to have the opportunity to walk across the stage in celebration of their success. Although any plans are contingent on how the summer outlook progresses, all spring graduates are invited to participate in the summer commencement events scheduled for Friday, July 31, and Saturday, Aug. 1.

Local residents named to Bradley University's 2020 Spring Dean's List

More than 2600 students were named to Bradley's Dean's List for Spring 2020. To be eligible for the Dean's List a student must achieve a minimum 3.5 grade point average for the semester on a 4.0 scale.
