Customer Runs Out Of Store With iPhones: Buffalo Grove Police Blotter
The man told employees at the T-Mobile store he wanted to upgrade his phones, but then ran out with two iPhone 14s, according to police.

BUFFALO GROVE, IL — The following information comes from the Buffalo Grove Police Department (except when noted) and court records as a record of incidents reported to police and those arrested on criminal charges, which represent accusations by the state that are often dropped or reduced.
Updated information may be available from the Lake County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Everyone arrested is presumed to be innocent unless found guilty in court beyond a reasonable doubt.
ARRESTS

A 34-year-old Waukegan man is accused of driving on a suspended license, and was arrested at 6:43 p.m. Feb. 2, at N. Milwaukee Avenue and E. Busch Parkway. He was released after posting a $2,500 bond and was assigned a court date of Feb. 22.

Robert J. Garcia-Martinez, 28, of the 1500 block of N. Silver Lane, Palatine, is accused of possession of a controlled substance, three counts of having an altered or counterfeited identification card, having a suspended registration, operating an uninsured motor vehicle, operating a cellular phone while driving, and was arrested at 3:48 a.m. Feb. 6, at S. Buffalo Grove and Dundee roads. He was released after posting bond.

INCIDENTS
THEFT
- A manager at K1 Speed, 301 Hastings Drive, reported at 12:20 p.m. Feb. 2, $200 was stolen from a game card kiosk. The theft occurred between Jan. 26 and Feb. 1. It is unknown how the kiosk was opened to access cash from the inside. There was no damage to the kiosk.
- Police responded at 1:51 p.m. Feb. 4, to T-Mobile, 848 N. Milwaukee Ave., for a report of a theft. n employee told police a man entered the store and requested an upgrade for two of his cellular phones. He claimed to have a current T-Mobile account and provided identification. He was then provided with two Apple iPhone 14s, valued at $1,100, to look over while the upgrade process was being completed. The man then took both phones and ran out of the store after being told one of his cellular phones would be called by T-Mobile for identification.
RETAIL THEFT
Police responded at 2:49 p.m. Feb. 2, to a report of a retail theft at Woodman's, 1550 E. Deerfield Parkway. A shopper had placed various non-alcoholic beverages in her shopping cart and walked past the last point of purchase without paying for the items, valued at $55.33. The woman was issued a retail theft ordinance violation.
THEFT OF MOTOR VEHICLE PARTS
- A citizen called police at 1:55 p.m. Feb. 5, to report the catalytic converter from their car had been removed between Feb. 2 and Feb. 4 at Villa Verde Condos, 4 Villa Verde Drive.
- A citizen reported at 5:56 p.m. Feb. 3, that the catalytic converter from their car had been stolen at some time on Feb. 2 at Villa Verde Condos, 4 Villa Verde Drive.
RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY
A Saddle Court resident reported at 7:35 a.m. Feb. 6, someone had entered their home and stole several tools. A crew had left there after completing their work at 3 p.m., and when they returned the next day, they discovered the missing property. The resident said someone had entered the home through an unlocked front window and did not cause any damage.
