Man Punches Other Driver During Dispute: Buffalo Grove Police Blotter

After the altercation, the man fled the scene in his car, according to police.

BUFFALO GROVE, IL — The following information comes from the Buffalo Grove Police Department (except when noted) and court records as a record of incidents reported to police and those arrested on criminal charges, which represent accusations by the state that are often dropped or reduced.

Updated information may be available from the Lake County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Everyone arrested is presumed to be innocent unless found guilty in court beyond a reasonable doubt.

ARRESTS

DRIVING WHILE LICENSE SUSPENDED/REVOKED

  • A 21-year-old Arlington Heights resident is accused of driving while license revoked, and was arrested at 6:15 p.m. Jan. 25, in the 400 block of W. Dundee Road. He was released on bond and assigned a court date of Feb. 17.
  • A 22-year-old Chicago resident is accused of driving while license revoked, not wearing a seat belt, and was arrested at 7:20 p.m. Jan. 28, at Highland Grove and Dunhill drives. They were released after posting a $2,500 bond and were assigned a court date of March 10.

BATTERY

David N. Dautel, 51, of the 800 block of W. Burning Tree Lane, Arlington Heights, is accused of battery, and was arrested at 11:29 a.m. Jan. 26, in the 0-10 block of W. Dundee Road following a driving dispute. The driver of another car accused Dautel of punching them in the face during the dispute and then leaving the scene. They were released after posting bond and assigned a court date of March 1.

INCIDENTS

RETAIL THEFT

Police responded to Walgreens, 15 N. Buffalo Grove Road, at 7:32 p.m. Jan. 25, for a report of a retail theft. They met with a store manager, who said two unknown men entered the store and filled two bags up with cosmetics, valued at $600. They were confronted by a store employee, but continued to fill the bags. The duo fled the store on foot northbound along the west side of the building. One man was wearing a black beanie, gray and white jacket, and a blue surgical mask. The other was wearing a gray beanie, black jacket, black pants, white shoes and a blue surgical mask.

CRIMINAL DAMAGE TO PROPERTY

An employee of a store in the 1100 block of Weiland Road reported at 12:35 a.m. Feb. 1, two people had broken in and were possibly still inside. Police found two front windows shattered with a rock on the ground nearby. Because of the size of the hole in the glass, police believe no one entered the store, but four rocks were found on the ground. A sign in the store was also found broken.
