Customer Steals Booze, Returns To Store: Buffalo Grove Police Blotter

The customer was seen on camera stealing liquor bottles and then returned to Walgreens after the incident, when he was arrested.

BUFFALO GROVE, IL — The following information comes from the Buffalo Grove Police Department (except when noted) and court records as a record of incidents reported to police and those arrested on criminal charges, which represent accusations by the state that are often dropped or reduced.

Updated information may be available from the Lake County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Everyone arrested is presumed to be innocent unless found guilty in court beyond a reasonable doubt.

Heather M. Suren, 52, of the 400 block of Ferndale Court, Buffalo Grove, is accused of driving under the influence of alcohol, DUI alcohol with a blood alcohol concentration level of .08 or more, transporting of an open alcohol container, failure to reduce speed, and was arrested at 9:37 p.m. Feb. 22, in the 400 block of Ferndale Court. Police had responded to a report of a possible car fire and found Suren's car crashed against a tree on the cul de sac parkway. She was released and assigned a court date of March 13.

INCIDENTS

RETAIL THEFT

Police responded at 6:15 p.m. Feb. 24, to Woodman's Grocery, 1550 E. Deerfield Parkway, for a report of a retail theft. A customer was observed removing items from a 0.99 cent reduced produce bags and putting different items in the bag. She went to the self check-out line and paid $58.34. She was stopped by security as she left the store. The items in her bag were rescanned, totaling $159.32. She was issued an adjudication ticket for the retail theft and given a trespass warning.

CRIMINAL DAMAGE TO PROPERTY

A resident in the 1100 block of Johnson Drive reported at 6 a.m. Feb. 26, their vehicle's tires were slashed overnight. All four tires were flat and slash marks were found on two of the tires.

VANDALISM

Police responded to Garden Fresh Market, 770 S. Buffalo Grove Road, at 10 a.m. Feb. 26, for a report of graffiti being found on the rear of the building.

THEFT

Police responded to Walgreens, 15 N. Buffalo Grove Road, at 6:16 p.m. Feb. 26, for a theft in progress. A subject wearing all black with a black Michael Jordan backpack, who, had stolen alcohol from the store, had now returned to the store. The person was seen on camera in the liquor aisle stealing liquor. An unopened bottle of Espolon tequila was found on the ground near the entrance of a nearby condominium complex. The person was given a trespass warning and told not to return to the store.
