Dine Global, Give Local

Patrons who donate non-perishable food items will receive free menu items at participating Wheeling and Prospect Heights restaurants.

The Wheeling-Prospect Heights Chamber of Commerce has reprised its "Dine Global Give Local" campaign, in which restaurateurs in Wheeling and the surrounding area join for a month-long food drive to benefit a food pantry.

Diners are asked to bring in non-perishable food items to participating restaurants. In return, they receive a complimentary food item.

In addition, throughout the month of March, participating locations will host special events with a global theme. For each of these events, a percentage of the sales will be donated to the local food pantry.

Last year, the campaign generated almost 1,400 pounds of non-perishable food items, and a total of $828.25 was contributed to St. Joseph the Worker Church's food pantry, which provided grocery store gift cards for use toward perishable food items.
