Flood Warning In Effect For Lincolnshire, Des Plaines: National Weather Service

Tuesday night's heavy rain has resulted in flood watches and warnings for areas along the Des Plaines River.

COOK/LAKE COUNTIES, IL — Following Tuesday night's heavy rainstorm, a river flood warning is in effect for communities along the Des Plaines River, including Lincolnshire and Des Plaines. The National Weather Service issued the warnings at around 10:30 a.m. Wednesday.

According to NWS, possible flooding of the river affects northern Cook and Lake counties at Lincolnshire; as well as central and northern Cook County near Des Plaines.

A flood watch is in effect for Riverside and River Forest, which pertains to the Central Cook zone.

NWS said people along rivers and streams in the watch area should monitor the latest forecasts and be prepared to take action should flooding develop.

Additional rounds of storms are possible on Wednesday, in the afternoon and evening hours, the National Weather Service shared.

"Any focused corridors of heavy rain, particularly if including hard-hit areas from Tuesday evening, may lead to flash flooding," the weather service said.

In addition to the flash flooding, the storms could bring severe weather threats like damaging winds and large hail.
