Driver Steals Tip Jar From Starbucks: Buffalo Grove Police Blotter

An employee told police the tip jar contained $40 when it was taken.

BUFFALO GROVE, IL — The following information comes from the Buffalo Grove Police Department (except when noted) and court records as a record of incidents reported to police and those arrested on criminal charges, which represent accusations by the state that are often dropped or reduced.

Updated information may be available from the Lake County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Everyone arrested is presumed to be innocent unless found guilty in court beyond a reasonable doubt.

Vesta Marie Keiber, 57, of the 140 block of N. Milwaukee Avenue, Lake Villa, is accused of felony driving on a revoked license, and was arrested at 9:28 p.m. July 5, after police responded to a two-car accident at McHenry and N. Arlington Heights roads. A court date of July 13 was assigned.

Kenneth M. Holiday, 36, of the 1900 block of W. Cambridge Court, Palatine, is accused of aggravated driving under the influence, aggravated driving on a revoked license, speeding (26-34 mph over the speed limit), transporting alcohol, and was arrested at 9:01 p.m. July 12, at W. Lake Cook Road and N. Bloomington Avenue. He also had an active warrant out of Kane County. Bond was set at $50,000 and a court date of July 13 was assigned.

INCIDENTS

RETAIL THEFT

An employee at Artisan Vapor & CBD, 802 N. Milwaukee Ave., reported at 11:16 a.m. July 12, someone removed a vape device from the counter and left the store without paying. The person was issued an adjudication citation for retail theft and was given a trespass warning.

THEFT

  • An employee at Starbucks, 1205 W. Dundee Road, reported at 3:49 p.m. July 12, someone took the tip jar from the drive-thru window ledge, which contained around $40. The person fled in an unknown direction.
  • An employee at Woodman's Grocery, 1550 E. Deerfield Parkway, is accused of taking a drink or bag of chips on four different days he was working and not paying for them. The value was $7.70. He was issued an adjudication ticket for theft and was given a trespass warning.

BURGLARY TO MOTOR VEHICLE

  • A resident in the 700 block of Essington Lane reported that between July 14 and July 15, someone entered his unlocked car, stole money and in-ear headphones. The vehicle's center console was also damaged.
  • A resident in the 70 block of Willow Parkway called police to report that during the overnight hours of July 15, someone had entered his car and stole a wallet containing $1,200 and multiple credit cards.
  • A resident in the 700 block of Essington Lane called police to report that during the overnight hours of July 15, someone entered their car and took a case containing 50 compact discs.
