Park Porta-Potties Damaged By Fireworks: Buffalo Grove Police Blotter
Incidents involving fireworks occurred at both Woodland and Kilmer parks, according to police.

BUFFALO GROVE, IL — The following information comes from the Buffalo Grove Police Department (except when noted) and court records as a record of incidents reported to police and those arrested on criminal charges, which represent accusations by the state that are often dropped or reduced.
Updated information may be available from the Lake County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Everyone arrested is presumed to be innocent unless found guilty in court beyond a reasonable doubt.

Grant R. Braband, 26, is accused of two counts of aggravated assault using a deadly weapon, battery, and was arrested at 4:41 p.m. June 30, in the 70 block of S. Buffalo Grove Road. Police met with someone in the 0-10 block of Villa Verde Drive, who said they were assaulted and battered by Braband. He was released after posting $2,500 bond and was assigned a court date of July 14.

- Pablo J. Ayala, 64, of the 900 block of Weiland Road, Buffalo Grove, is accused of driving under the influence of alcohol, DUI with a blood alcohol concentration level of .08 or more, operating an uninsured motor vehicle, having an expired registration, and was arrested at 9:13 p.m. June 30, at Weiland Road and Pauline Avenue. Police were responding to a two-car accident involving Ayala when the arrest was made. He was released after posting a $3,000 bond and was assigned a court date of July 19.
- Monika Grodzicka, 43, of the 1200 block of Churchill Drive, Roselle, is accused of driving under the influence of alcohol, and was arrested at 8:03 p.m. July 3, at Arlington Heights Road and Auburn Lane. She was released after posting $3,000 bond and was assigned a court date of July 19.
- Mykhaylo Kashchak, 56, of the 800 block of Willow Road, Winnetka, is accused of driving under the influence of alcohol, speeding, and was arrested at 1 a.m. July 4, near Weiland Road and Pauline Avenue. He was released after posting $1,000 bond and was assigned a court date of July 19.
DRIVING WHILE LICENSE SUSPENDED
Tikori D. Garland, 42, of the 3000 block of W. 8th Street, Waukegan, is accused of driving on a suspended license, operating an uninsured motor vehicle, no insurance, operating a vehicle with a suspended registration, and was arrested at 4:16 p.m. July 1, in the 1600 block of N. Barclay Boulevard. He was released after posting a $2,500 bond and was assigned a court date of Aug. 11.

INCIDENTS
THEFT OF MOTOR VEHICLE PARTS
- A resident in the 0-10 block of Villa Verde Drive reported at 8:15 a.m. June 28, someone had removed the catalytic converter from the exhaust system of their car.
- A resident in the 0-10 block of Villa Verde Drive called police at 6:55 a.m. June 30, to report someone stole the catalytic converter off his vehicle overnight. He said he parked the car at 8:30 p.m. and discovered the part was missing at 5 a.m.
RETAIL THEFT
An employee at Woodman's Grocery, 1550 E. Deerfield Parkway, told police at 12:54 p.m. June 28, someone failed to scan several items at the self-checkout. He then moved past the final point of sale and attempted to exit the store with those items. He was issued and an adjudication ticket for retail theft and a trespass warning for the property.
BATTERY
Police responded to Woodman's Grocery, 1550 E. Deerfield Parkway, at 1:49 a.m. June 29, for a reported battery. A complainant told police they were swung at by an unknown male, who then ran west in the parking lot.
FLEEING A PEACE OFFICER
Police stopped a car for dark-tinted windows at 3:37 p.m. June 29, near Route 22 and Buffalo Grove Road. Upon arrival, police met with a male driver, who handed over his driver's license before driving away westbound on Route 22 near Route 83.
CRIMINAL DAMAGE TO PROPERTY
- Police responded to Woodland Park at 2:43 p.m. July 2, for a criminal damage to property report. A complainant told police someone had ignited a large amount of fireworks inside a porta-john, which is located near the basketball courts.
- Police were called to Kilmer Park, 655 Golfview Terrace, at 6:16 p.m. July 3, for a criminal damage to property report. Police found a porta-john had been destroyed as the unit was not standing on its own, all the walls and top were off. Police found a black powder-like material on the floor of the unit.
THEFT
Police responded to the Sky Fitness Center, 1501 E. Busch Parkway, at 2:45 p.m. July 4, for a reported theft. A member of the club told police that between 1:30 p.m. and 2:45 p.m., he had left his backpack off the side of him on the second floor while exercising, and somebody stole it. The said the value of the lost bag and items inside is $800.
