DUI, Battery, Assault Charges Follow Crash: Buffalo Grove PD Blotter

A Buffalo Grove woman, who is also accused of resisting a peace officer, was arrested after a two-car accident near Casey's gas station.

BUFFALO GROVE, IL — The following information comes from the Buffalo Grove Police Department (except when noted) and court records as a record of incidents reported to police and those arrested on criminal charges, which represent accusations by the state that are often dropped or reduced.

Updated information may be available from the Lake County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Everyone arrested is presumed to be innocent unless found guilty in court beyond a reasonable doubt.

Elvira Mejia-Babrera, 53, of the 20 block of Crestview Terrace, Buffalo Grove, is accused of driving under the influence of alcohol, battery, assault, resisting a peace officer, and was arrested at 8:50 p.m. June 11, following a crash investigation near Casey's Gas Station, 1515 Lake Cook Road. She was released after posting $2,500 bond and was assigned a court date of July 14.

INCIDENTS

THEFT OF MOTOR PARTS

Police responded to Four Points By Sheraton, 900 block of W. Lake Cook Road, for a delayed theft report. The complainant told police that the catalytic converter to their car, valued at $1,200, had been stolen between 6:30 p.m June 5 and 7:45 a.m. June 6.

BURGLARY TO MOTOR VEHICLE

Police responded to the Arboretum Clubhouse, 401 W. Half Day Road, at 4:20 p.m. June 10, for a burglary to motor vehicle report. The complainant told police someone had broken into his car and stole various items.

RETAIL THEFT

  • Police responded to Jewel, 79 McHenry Road, at 8:36 a.m. June 12, for a retail theft report. An employee told police that four people took merchandise, $223.92, from the store without paying.
  • An employee at Woodman's Grocery, 1550 E. Deerfield Parkway, told police at 6:45 p.m. June 11, that two people stole a bottle of alcohol and money from a cash register, total value of $655.81.
