Shopper Uses 'Reduced Grocery' Bar Code: Buffalo Grove Police Blotter
The woman failed to scan items at the self-checkout, while also using a "reduced grocery" bar code to scan items at lower prices.

BUFFALO GROVE, IL — The following information comes from the Buffalo Grove Police Department (except when noted) and court records as a record of incidents reported to police and those arrested on criminal charges, which represent accusations by the state that are often dropped or reduced.
Updated information may be available from the Lake County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Everyone arrested is presumed to be innocent unless found guilty in court beyond a reasonable doubt.

Jesus Antonio Guevara-Rodriguez, 22, of the 300 block of W. Ridgeland Avenue, Waukegan, is accused of driving on a suspended license, and was arrested at 9:04 p.m. May 31, in the 2100 block of E. Lake Cook Road. He was released after posting a $2,500 bond and was assigned a court date of July 7.

Gonzalo Gonzalez, 24, of the 4000 block of Wren Lane, Rolling Meadows, had a warrant out of DuPage County for a bond forfeiture, a new charge of driving on a suspended license, and was arrested at 12:33 a.m. June 3, near Dundee Road and Betty Drive. He was released after posting a $3,000 bond and was assigned a court date of July 10.

INCIDENTS
THEFT
- Police responded to Woodman's gas station, 1500 E. Deerfield Parkway, at 4:40 p.m. June 1, for a delayed theft report. Upon arrival, police met with a complainant, who said he had accidentally left his wallet on top of a gas pump and drove away. He returned a short time later and realized it was missing.
- Police responded to the 1000 block of Windbrooke Drive at 6:25 p.m. June 5, for a theft report. A complainant told police his bicycle, which had been left outside the building, was missing.
BURGLARY
- Police responded to a business in the 200 block of W. Dundee Road at 5:43 a.m. June 3, for a burglary. A complainant told police he found broken glass to the front entry door to the store. At the time of the report, it was unknown whether anything was missing.
- Police responded to the 1000 block of Greenridge Road at 3:04 p.m. June 3, for a theft from motor vehicle report. A complainant told police someone entered her unlocked car and stole an item, valued at $50.
RETAIL THEFT
- Police responded to Woodman's Grocery, 1550 E. Deerfield Parkway, at 10:04 a.m. June 3, for a retail theft report. A staff member told police they saw a patron removing merchandise from the store without paying. They saw the woman fail to scan items at the self-checkout and use a "reduced grocery" bar code she brought with her to scan items at much lower prices. She was stopped as she attempted to exit the store with $130.11 worth of merchandise she had only paid $68.71 with. She was issued an adjudication citation and was given a trespass warning.
- Police responded to Woodman's Grocery, 1550 E. Deerfield Parkway, at 1:09 p.m. June 3, for a retail theft in progress. A man and woman exited the store, each with a shopping cart full of unpaid merchandise, valued at a total of $600. The duo then got into a car and fled the area.
