Elementary, Middle, High Schools Ranked Among Best In Lake Co.

Several local public schools fared well in Chicago Magazine's rankings.

Public schools in Lincolnshire and Buffalo Grove are among the best in Lake County, according to recently released rankings by Chicago Magazine. Daniel Wright Junior High School in Lincolnshire came in at No. 2 on Chicago Magazine's list for Best Elementary and Middle schools in the county while Half Day School in Lincolnshire was No. 5, Meridan Middle School in Buffalo Grove was ranked at No. 6 on the list and Earl Pritchett School in Buffalo Grove came in at No. 8.

Adlai E. Stevenson High School in Lincolnshire was ranked as the third best high school in the county.

Deerfield High School took the top spot among the county's top high schools and Bannockburn School ranked as the No. 1 elementary or middle school in the county, according to Chicago Magazine.

The ratings were generated by a combination of income-adjusted test scores, school surveys, per pupil spending, attendance and graduation rate and grouped based on geography, with Chicago, suburban Cook, DuPage, Kane, Lake, McHenry, and Will counties ranked separately.

The ratings were generated with input from the University of Chicago and other education experts and data provided by the Illinois State Board of Education and Chicago Public Schools. They used data from the 2016-17 school year, the most recent available.
